Indians Joining the Insurgents,
A serious rebellion has broken o^ut in north-west Canada, and is rapidly extending. Many Indian tribes have joined the Insurgents, and several encounters have taken place between the latter and the police. General Ulyssess Grant is reported to be beyond all hope of recovery, and his death is houtly expected.

Consols have advanced by to«day, and are now standing at 97|. New Zealand securities ; 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, lOlf, ex div; 4|per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 100|; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 98|. The market rate of discount has declined to2f, and is now f below the bank rate. Colonial bread staffs: Adelaide wheat off the coast is realising 35s ; quotations ex store for Adelaide flour are unchanged. Wool: At to-day's auction, 11,000 bales were offered; the market was quieter.
Shaw»Saville and Albion Company's steamship lonic, from Wellington, arrived at Plymouth last evening. Her cargo of meat is in good condition.
