The new Oriental Bank pays a dividend of live per cent, in April. The Melbourne and Sydney branches of the Bank have been authorised to purchase any of the creditors'claims-in Australia for sixteen shillings in the pound.
Mr J. 0. Williamson, of the firm of Williamson, Garner, and Musgrave theatrical managers, Melbourne/has started for America for the purpose of arranging with Mir. Dion BoucieauU, the actor, to appear in Australia. Lord Eoseberry has invited all- the Agents-General to a dinner to be given by him. ,
Colonel Fletcher Owen, the new naval commander for Adelaide, will locally hold the rank of Brigader-General. .■ ' Mr George Anderson, Deputy Master of the Melbourne Mint, will sail fo~r Melbourne in May. The Bank of England has paid £1,200,000 of the New South Wales loan into the account of the New South Walea Government with the Associated Banks.

Lord Derby states that Admiral. Tryon is in possession of a plan for the purpose of securing joint action between Australia and the Imperial Navy. He has also power to create a federal authority, and in order to simplify this, the English Government are making overtures to all of the colonies.
Lord Derby doubts whether an Imperial Federal Council is possible. •?
The Lisbon Postal Conference has agreed to grant England and tns colonies five votes. '
The Reichstag has approved of a branch at Samoa and Tonga of the new German lino of steamers to Australia. It is stated in Berlin that the voyage to Sydney will be performed in thirty-six days.
