Friendly Rifle Match.

WAIEOA V. THAMES JUNGERS

This match—a return od« —was fired at the Collarbone range to day. The visitors, seventeen in number, beside some ladies, arrived in the Planet yesterday afternoon, and landed at Tararu, where they were met by Capt. Douglas and Lieut. Lucas with vehicles, and driven r ,to the Royal Hotel. After a short rest, the party drove out to Kopu, and were shown other places of interest. The match was commenced.. at nine o'clock this morning. There wer9 twelve men a side, and the ranges were 200, 400, and "500 yards, seven shots at each. As will he seen, by the detailed acorns below, the' Thamesites were vie- 5 torious by 33 points, or one less than thai number by which our men defeated the Wairoans on their own ground several month? ago :-—

The Wairoans will be entertained at a dinner in the Shortland Public Hall this evening, and a concert, to be followed by a dance, will take place at 8 o'clock. .The programme appears elsewhere, and a perusal of it is sure to be satisfactory. We have been requested to draw attention to the fact that the last item is by Mr E. Wiseman, our contemporary having somewhat mutilated the name in its issue this morning. A very pleasant evening should bo spent.
