Small-pox on the Ringarooma.

. Auckland, .This day. The Health Officer has received a telegram from Dr.. McKellar, of Sydney, stating that' a case of smali-pox has occurred on board the Ringareoma, from Auckland, and that the vessel has been ordered into quarantine. ' Wellington, This day.

The Colonial Secretary has received a cablegram from Edmund Seager, Secre tary of the Board of Health, Sydney, stating that the steamer Bingarooma, from Auckland to Sydney, had been quarantined yesterday there in consequence of there being a case of small-poi on board. It appears that the patient is one of the crew, and that on the last voyage of the steamer to Sydney he was two days in<. that port, and it is believed that he there contracted the disease.

The steamship Tiingarooma arrived yesterday from Auckland, and soon after she was berthed it was discovered that the steward, named Thomas James, was suffering from small-pox. The passengers had disembarked, but fifteen of them were subsequently secured and sent to the quarantine station. Several other passen* gers cannot be traced, and are still at large. The vessel has been placed in quarantine. \
