At a meeting of the National Bifle Association to-day, the Duke of Cam* bridge, who presided, in the course of his speech expressed the hope that later the Government may find it possible to utilise the offers- made by other colonies than New South, Wales of troops for the Soudan. , ' % Gladstone on Gordon's Death.

In a speech, on the motion of censure, the Hon. W. E. Gladstone strongly defended the Egyptian policy of Government, and in regard to the death of Gordon urged that the same was unavoidable under the circumstances.. "
