' Some interesting work was done at For* bury on Saturday morning, many horses, having a gallop on the course outside the hurdles. Lady Emma and Mokaia started off together, and went a mile at top speed, when the colt dropped out, and his place was taken by Matanaka, who was to bring the Cup mare home. The latter, however, ran clean away from him in the last half mile, and finished a splendid gallop alone. The last round and a-half, which, being outside the hurdles, is over a rJile and a halt, was done by her in 2mihs 50secs. Captain Webster went a similar journey; for half a mile he was alone, and for the remainder of the distance in company with Ouida. He went very free, but his time was not quite so good as Lady Emma's.' His best mile occupied lmin 57secs. Adamant was sent three miles ; the first two he covered slow, but put on the pace ip, the last round, and finished fast.
