Sydney, Yesterday.

The train which ran off the line on the Southern railway contained among the passengers a number of bookmakers, all of whom escaped with slight injuries. No particulars hare been received of the casualties. The culrert which collapsed was fifty yards wide and nine deep. The carriages precipitated into the gap fairly dammed the creek, and several pe.sons were washed down the stream, while others were killed by the force of theconcussion. Several miraculous escapes are reported to have occurred, The Minister for Kail* ways and the leading officials are now at the scene of the disaster.

Seven bodies haae been recovered at the Cootumundra railway accideut viz.. Crawford (railway employe). Wilson (ditto), O'Dwyer (mail guard), Campbell (railway official), and a woman and tiro children whose names are uuknQwny

Numbers of others suffered more or less serious injuries. Later. (Received January 27, 1,5 p.m.)Sydney, This day. Several sufferers by the railway accident have been removed to Goulburn, while others remain at Cootamundra. One injured man named Bergin is not expected to recover. Tho wreck of the train presents a terrible scene. The inquest on the bodies of those killed has been opened, but has been adjourned. The rain has carried away a portion of the Western ltailway line, and traffic has been, partially suspended in consequence.

The Albury correspondent of the Argus telegraphs that tho railway catastrophe at Cootamundra has left thirty persons un accounted for.
