Church Conferences.

WESLEYAN METHODISTS.
A considerable portion of the time of this morning's session was occupied in the consideration of the applications of the Revs. Josiah Ward and 0. E. Barley, of the Primitive Methodist Church, to be received into the Wesleyan ministry. It was resolved that both applicants be received. Since the last Conference three ministers have died, viz.: the Revs. Peter Wells, Jas. Buller, and Wiremu Patene. Obituary records of the deceased were read, and several ministers took part in the conversation that ensued. It was unanimously resolved to send a telegram to Mr Booth, at Auckland, welcoming him to the colony, and expressing sympathy with the temperance work. The oral examination of candidates for ordination was conducted by the Rev. J. H. Simmonds. The candidates were, the Revs. H. N. Garland, W. G. Parsonson, J. T. Pinfold, and W. Slade. Each' was accepted by the Conference, and will be publicly ordained on Monday next. PRIMITIVE METHODISTS. The following are appointments for the ensuing'year:-r-New Plymouth, Thomas Saddler; Wellington first, Phillip Hunter and John Dumbell (Superintendent); Wellington second, Peter W. Jones; Auckland first, Arthur J. Smith; Auckland second, Jesse Boothroyd ; Inveroargill, Daniel Dutton, F.R.A.S.* and Wm. Laycock; Timaru, Wm. J. Deans; Thames, William S. Potter; Greendale, Joseph Sharp; Ashburton, one to be obtained; Christchurch, James Guy; Manawatu, Jas. Glover; Geraldine, Henry Clark ; Du'nedin first, Chas. Ward ; Dunedin second,, John Nixon ; Oam»ru, Robert Freeman ; "Waicnate, one to be obtained. .
