A Strike Settled
The bootmakers' strike at Ballarat has been amicably settled. . Hobaet, This day.
The reciprocal tariff agreement between Victoria and Tasmania has been signed, but requires ratification by the Parliaments of the two colonies. It is understood Tasmania has |aiado large concessions to Victoria.
Sydney, yesterday. | A banquet was given last night to the Hon. W. B. Daley at Mundle. In his speech on the occasion, the AttorneyGeneral strongly advocated Imperial federation. Pebth (Western Australia), Friday. The murder of Anketell, manager, and Barrup, accountant, of the Union Bank of Australia at,Boeburn, was committed on the 12th inst. Both victims were asleep at the time they were killed. The cause is as yet a mystery, but the tracks which were discovered in the vicinity are being followed up. Adelaide, Yesterday. Wheat per bushel, 3s 7d to 3s 8d; market steady, but not active. Flour : Town brands, £8 5s to £8 10s; couojtry ditto, £7 5s to £7 10s. Freights to London ; Steamers, 25s to 27s ; ditto sailing, 27s to 30s. The freight market is weak, with charters unaltered | and nothing doing.
