The County Chairman, Councillor McCombie, and the County Surveyor met some of the settlers who petitioned the Council for making a portion of this road. The site of the road was examined, and those of the settlers who were present (who might be fairly taken to represent those interested.) expressed themselves to the effect that they would be satisfied if the forty (40) chains opposite Bowler's farm were made passable for wheeied traffic in the same manner as the portion of the road made by the Waitoa Eoad Board and by the settlers themselves. It is estimated that a sura of fifty pounds would be required for that purpose. RE BOAD THEOUGH MB ELLIOTT'S LAND NEAB HIKUTAIA. The County Chairman, Councillor Townsebd, and the County Surveyor, visited the locality of the abovenamed road and examined the state of it. A very large amount of work has been done on Mr Elliott's by Mr Elliott and the settlers who have bought land from him. A drain has been cut along one side of the proposed road for a distance of about one and a half miles, and the drain is being continued to the upper boundary of Mr Elliott's land, which is a distance from the Ohinemuri main road of about twenty chains. Mr Elliott wishes the survey of the road through his estate continued through Onehaia No. 2 block, till it joins the main road. This can be done by application to the Government.
