Sudden Death.

This day.

Mr Jaruieson, manager of the Union Bank of Australia, expired at 1 o'clock this morning, after an illness lasting only a few hours. He appeared at the Bank yesterday in his usual health, but about midday was suddenly seized with an abdominal pain. Medical aid was summoned, bat Mr Jamicson gradually sank. The cause of death was intestinal inflammation. More Fires. A fire broke out at 12 30 to day in a workshop attached to W. Nicholson's furniture establishment, in Cuba street. The flames spread quickly, and the shop was enveloped in a few minutes. Severe comments were passed on the way the fire brigade went to work, as there was a grand supply of water. After half an hour's battle, however, the flames were got under, but not before one or two cottages in the vicinity were . damaged. Several neighboring residents have lost by a hasty removal of* furniture. The build ing destroyed is insured in the Fire Association for £500, and it is understood that the Standard also has a line. The owner estimates his loss at close on £1000. The origin is surrounded by mystery.
