Sib,—Taking into consideration that the price of flour is lower than it has been for many years past, and that the wheat supply of the world is larger than at any time on record, and add to this the signi* ficant fact that a contract to supply one of the-public institutions of Auckland, namely, the Whau Asylum, bas been accepted at 2d the two-pound loaf, and also that this community is paying a higher price for its bread than it fcan be obtained elsewhere for, I am of opinion Mr Editor, if you are aware of these facts, that you and your fellow editors, if you will pardon the expression, are guilty of a neglectof your dutytothepublicinnottaking up the editorial lash and smiting these .extortionate bakers lustily^ Trusting, sir, 'that you will use your powerful influence to cause the " stuff of life to be placed within easier reach, and thereby obtain the blessing of the suffering poor.—l am, &c, Patebfamilias.
