Training Notes "by " Hippona."
Auckland, This day. No fast work was dove on the course this morning. The Lad, who is a commoner to look at, spurted for about a mile (in clothing), and was afterwards stripped and sent twice round at a fair pace. The Poet and Minerva (in company) strode along for a couple of miles, but just before pulling up The Poet struck his leg find pulled up a trifle sore; he was afterwards walked round the paddock, and appeared to be sound. Kiog did a good strong gallop aloDe, and Thunderbolt and Derringer were sent a smart mile on the plough. Libeller and Administrator each went once round alone at a good pace, and all of Bay's team did easy tasks. Turquoise and Youth worked before daylight, and nothing else of importance was done. Necklace was scratched for the Cup at 11 o'clock to-day.
