Horrible Catastrophe—Over 21 Children Burnt to Death.
A disastrous fire occurred last night at the Catholic Orphanage at Brooklyn. The bodies of 21 children, who were burned, have been recovered, but 90 others are still missing. Lonpon, December 23. The cargo of frozen mutton ex steamship Doric was landed in good condition. The homeward San Francisco mails, dated Auckland, November 11, were delivered yesterday. Berlin, December 20. In reply to claims made by the German and Eussian Governments to be repre* sented on the Egyptian Caisse de La Dette Publique, the Egyptian Government states» in effect, that it is willing to recognise the claims provided all the signatory Powers in whose favor the law of liquidation was passed shall agree to sanction the necessary modification in the construction of the Caisse. The reply caused considerable displeasure to the German and Eussian Governments, and also at the Austrian Court. The International Conference on the Congo question has adjourned its sitting until after Christmas.
