This day

Telegrams state that last week, Mr Hazard, Government surveyor and party, vyhile engaged laying off the road between Huatly and the head of the Whaingaroa, and when near the latter cad, were ordered off by Hapata, a chief of the Ngatimania tribe, and a party of entires,

who tore up the survey pegs, and overturned the instruments, forbidding the work to proceed. Informations have been laid against the offenders.
