WELLINGTON.
This day. The house of L Davies, sharebroker, was destroyed by fire last night; it was owned by J. Dransfield, and insured for £350 in the London, Liverpool, and Globe ; Davies' furniture for £250 in the Mutual, and a quantity of sheep dip stored on the premises for £450 in the same office. Davies' states that he left £200 in notes in the house, which were also destroyed. Floods at Roxburgh Capt. Edwin has received the following message from Roxburgh :—Between 4 and 5 p.m. yesterday a heavy thunder cloud burst over the township and vicinity, with a circuit of about four miles, causing the creeks to become flooded to such an extent as to carry away the town waterworks, tearing up supply pipes, and opening culverts of 20 years standing. The damage is at least four or five hundred pounds.
