Consul Griffin has been promoted to the Consulate of Sydney, and his succesSjQ? js expected by the next mail steamer. Sir Johij Hall left for the South by the Hawea yesterday in excellent health. He spent Saturday evening with Sir Fredk. Whitaker. He will land at New J?lypuputh, and go overland to Wellington. He returns to England next -January.
M. de Harven, ponnepted with the Belgian special settlement spheme in thig colony, arrived by the mail steamer. Mr Pecks, Agent-General for Belgium in Australasia, is to meet M. de Harven in "Wellington (Shortly, poming over from Australia for that pappose. M. de Harven intends to leave for Wellington by steamer on Thursday, He is staying at the Northern Club.
