Waiorongomai Mining.
Battebt.—The returns of gold and amalgam for the week ending Saturday, JNov. Ist, were as follows :—New Find— 89 trucks, 56ozs retorted gold; tailings, 24ozs do. Colonist—so trucks, lOOozs amalgam (hot water). Canadian—l 9 trucks, 26ozs amalgam (hot water.) Inverness—3l trucks, 20ozs lOdwts retorted gold. New Find.—Payable gold has been struck in the north end of the low level. The reef is about four feet in width, and is similar in appearance to the best goldbearing parts of the lode in the Arizona, la the south end there is not much improvement (o note. Good progress is being made with the winze in the Arizona level, the depth now approaching 50 feet. There is no sign of any falling off in the reef, which is still very large, and of good quality. PnEMiEß.—The excellent show reported last week still continues, and gold is a/ freely visible in the stuff as before. In any other claim on the field stone showing the metal as plentifully would be estimate ed as worth several ounces per ton, but the excessive fineness of gold in the Premier make appearances somewhat deceptive. There can hardly be any doubt, however, that the vein oow in hand is highly payable. A few tons will b» sent to the battery next week, and a good return may be looked for.
Diamond Gully.—A. commencement will ba made next week to forward stuff to the battery. There is a considerable quantity of quartz on hand, and a good stretch of the reef is stripped and ready for breaking down. The supply will likely be sufficient to keep five head of stampers employed for some weeks. —News.
