NAPIER.

Yesterday.

A special meeting of the Hospital Committee was held yesterday with closed doors, but the tenor of the proceedings is pretty well knowa. The committee considered certain charges affecting the hospital staff, and resolved to ask Government to undertake a searching investigation.

In the Borough Council last night a discussion took place on the delay of Government in refunding the money expea ied by the Corporation in connection with the late small-pox case. The mayor said he had written several letters on the subject, but had received no satisfactory reply. The corporation expended some £SCO in fitting up the quarantine atatioß, etc. The Town Clerk was instructed to write and again urge the repayment of the money.
