This day. A house at Waiuku, the property of C. Egan, was burnt on Wednesday. The in* surances were £100 in the South British ; £ICO in the Standard.
A boy fell over the cliff in Hobson street yesterday, and fractured his arm and sustained other severe injuries.
The N.Z. Frozen Meat Company has accepted the tender of H. Taylor, of Christchurch, for the erection of freezing works at Waitara, at a cost of £7,145.
The Immigrant Agent has every day to refuse numerous requests to nominate immigrants. There is considerable demand for labor in the country, but the Immigration Agent cannot get mcD to go, even although he has sometimes offered them a free passage by the train. Fresh "Water BathsThe City Council have decided to erect fresh water swimming baths in the city, at a cost, for building alone, of £4000. The bath will be 120 feet long, 16 feet broad, and from 4 to 14 feet deep.
