The Wreck of the Clyde.
(Pjeb Psess Association.)
Dunedin, Last night,
The Clyde was a very strongly.built and well appointed vessel, having originally cost £13,000 ; her present market value would be more than £SCOO. The Sydney office of the New Zealand Insurance Company hold a risk of £ICC3 on the hull, and the South British >wd Union offices also have £503 aud £250 respectively on the hull. The remainder of the insurances on the hull in all probabilites are with some of the Sydney offices. The cargo is valued at £6003, and is insured in the National Insurance Office for £4600. Most of this amount, however, is re-in-sured in the New Zealand, South British, and Victorian Insurance offices. There is a deep and widespread feeling of regret for the fate of Capt. Cluiner and his wife. The steamer Tairoa returned to Akaroa from Horseshoe Bay, where the Clyde was wrecked, with the intelligence that nothing but wreckage was to be seen, and that all hands were drowned except the apprentice, Geo. Gibson, who swam ashore. The body of a boy of about 14 years has been recovered.
