This day.
Mr Hugh Shortland, who was arrested in England some months ago for the murder of his wife, arrived by the Doric yesterday. In a letter to the New Zealand Times, 1 after a recapitulation of the facts of his arrest, he says :—" I must be able to give a practical form to the principal of internate right by .representing my cnjcfor nationai-rciaonstrance and reparation, if such there can be, at the bar of the New Zealand House of Representatives, simultaneous to raising thefsame point by proxy in the English House of Commons."
