Caibo, October 5. Telegrams received hsre report the arrival of Lord Wolseley at Wady-Haifa. Lord Northbrook is now on his way to Assouan. [Beceivecl October 7, 2.30 pro.] Cairo, October 6. Intelligence is to hand that General Gordon has returned to Khartoum from Berber, which place be recently re-cap-tured from the rebels. Reported Slaughter of Colonel Stewait NevFS has also been received here that the steamer in which Colonel Stewart was proceeding down the Pile from Berber towards Abu Hamed, struck on a rock at Wadel Hhomar (fifth cataract), and sank shortly afterwards. No lives were lost, but it is reported that Colonel Stewart and his party were, on reaching shore, attacked by a band of Bedouins, and that the colonel was killed. The news requires confirmation.
