POLICE COURT.—This Day.

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., E.M.) DBUNKENNESS.

One man was fined ss, or imprisonment till the rising of the Court, for this offence in Gre.y street yesterday.

SELLING AFEEB HOTTES

Chas. Kalman, of the Empire Hotel, was charged with having sold intoxicatiog liquor after the time when his hotel should have been closed, viz., at 12.55 a.m. on the 27th September, ■ Accused pleaded guilty. Sergfc. Major Kiely stated the facts of the case, which were as follows:—-At 12.39 a.m. on Saturday last Constable O'Brien passed the Empire Hotel, and seeing that it was lit.-up, and hearing a number of men talking, he, in company with Sergt. Murphy, knocked at the door. They were at once admitted by Mr Kalman, and found five men besides the lodgers, some of them being in the act of drinking, while glasses containing beer were on the ledge of the half-door of the bar. His Worship said he saw no reason to depart from his usual rule in cases similar ta this one. The accused would be fined £5 and costs, 7s, and the conviction would be endorsed upon his license, thus making the second conviction against the house. ASSAULT. Tetley v. Tetley.—This case had been remanded from Monday last to enable the parties to come to an amicable settlement. —Mr Miller explained ihat Mr and Mm" Tetley were now living apart, on terms verbally agreed to, and His Worship, after cautioning defendant ag&inst the consequences which would result were she to let her temper get the better of her judgment, dismissed the case.
