COUNTY COUNCIL.
After our report of yesterday's meeting closed, the following business was done : —In connection' with a petition from Tapu' miners re repairs to road from claims to the mill; it was resolved that upon receipt of-the approval of the ■Government to the specifications, the work be under!alien as early as possible. —P. Austin's application for remission of rates cound Dot be entertained.—o. F. Mitchell's application for authority to proceed -against"P. O'JS"ei!l for obstructing a Paeroa street was granted, as Mr Mitchell undertook to indemnify the Council against costs. —Ajslaugbter-house license was granted to W. Comes, KaraDgabake.—The Engineer . was' instructed to inspect and report on the damage done to Mr Stilwell's property at Parawai, owing to a recent breach in the race.-—ln connection with.a complaint from C Bart that he, while awaiting payment by Government of a sum of £445 10s due to him as contractor under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, had been obliged to pay interest for five months on an overdraft, the Council declined to recognise any tiability.—Two months' extension was granted to A. Butler for hisMackaytownOwharoa eontra'ct, owing to damage done by the late floods.—An application for a remission of £36 imposed as a penalty on P. Trainor, contractor for Kauaeranga toad, was not entertained.—-A claim made by G. Ardern for damage caused by the flood was referred to the Engineer to report upon.—The Treasurer reporled :— jßeceipts: Gold duly and goldfields revenue—local rerenue, £398 17s 6d ; water race, £10 3s 9d ; County "rates,- £18 17s lid; special rates, £17 16s 8d ; tramwuy charges, £18*5s 6d; publicans' transfer. of license fees, £4; slaughterhouses license fees, £7 10s. Under Koads and Bridges Construction Act, £1796 12s ; to balance Ist September, £3600 18s; 'otal, £5873 Is 7d; taiance brought down, £300018s ; less cash in Treasurer's hands, £53 sssd; balance, £3546 12s 6d.— Kxjser.di(ure : B^nk balance, Ist August, £3235 15s 4-i-; September accounts, £840 14? 3d—£4076 9s 7d ; under Bof.ds and Bridges CoDstruc ion Act: £5873 Is 7d.
