Oddfellows' Presentation.

At a well-attended meeting of the Loyal Waikato Lodge of Oddfellows held last evening at the Oddfellows' Hall, .Richmond street, the ceremony of presenting Past Grand P. Herbert with a handsomely framed and mounted certificate of merit took place. Past Provincial Grand Master Bagnall, in making the presentation on behalf of the Lodge, said that he felt much pleasure in conveying to Bro. Herbert the certificate, which was a mark of epprcciation bestowed by his brothers as a slight recognition of the able manner in which he had served and fill.-l csrsecutively the subordinate offices, and latterly the onerous position of presiding officer over a Lodge of 150 members. The gift was cot so much to be valued on account of its intrinsic worth, but as an outward and incontestable sign that P. G. Herbert bad successfully performed his duties without fear or favour, he had been himself favourably impressed with the manner in which Bro. Herbert had conducted the business of the lodge, and hoped he would live long in possession of happiness and prosperity, coupled with the friendship of his brothers. . „ , , TT P.G. Herbert suitably responded. He expressed the pleasure he felt in receiving the honours of a pest officer; he woald endeavour to forward the interests of the lodge and order to which he ielt proud to belong, not the less so on account of their constitution, which was fr c to men of all creeds and political opinions; Oddfellowship was the common platform on which they could meet as brothers, witbouL^avtt or disputation. - He thanked the offitJjjji'S and brothers for the handsome souvenir presented him. Two young members were proposed for initiatioa on the following ledge night. The sick visitors' report was received, who reported that eight brothers had been in receipt of sick allowance since the preceding meeting. Other matters of detail and finance were attended to and the Lodge closed in the usual form.
