The Secretary of State of the United States writes to New Zealand that it is tba intention of the American Government to present a gold watch and chain to both Capt;. Gray, of the Stella, and Capt. Greig, of the Kekino, in recognition of their services in rescuing the crew of .the American vessel Sarah Hunt, at the Auckland Islands. . ,
Alfred Kemp, chief officer of fhe English barque Hudson, was to-day committed for trial for refusing to assist a police constable, who was being maltreated by three of the crew of his vessel.
