OUR MINES.
QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
The v return from the trial parcel of quartz from the Vanguard reef will probably be to hand to-morrow. It is not likely to be payable, but it is satisfactory that the stuff last crashed showed up much better than that first treated. The footwall branches of the main lode, at No. 7 level, were again broken down to-day, and gold freely seen. The point at which the manager has picked them up is seaward of a slide and just on a level wifh the top of the tributers' old stopes, which will at once be continued, as the stuff is, judging by the amount of gold seen, pey~ able. In the drive on the Vanguard, the reef is rather smaller and more compact than before. DART. Good progress is being made with the crosscut at No. 4 level, but so far no quartz has been cut except a small leader 2 inches wide 'intersected , last week, and which is strikingnearly tbesame as the crosscut. The battery started Crushing yesterday on five loads from the winze on No. 2 reef at No. 3 level; and a parcel from the block stoped out west of the whim.shaft at No. 2 level. When these are through & trial from the underhand stope on No. 2 reef at No. 2 level will be treated. DARWIN. The leader on which driving seaward was commenced at No. 2 level has pinched out, but the manager is still following the formation, as) it may make quartz again at any time. Driving on the other stringers will be started shortly. CAMBRIA. The eastern drire on the reef at No. 2 level broke through to the winze to-day, at a distance of 46ft. from the crosscut. The winze was not deep enough by about 3ft. The reef in the drive is about 14 inches wide, and a color of gold was seen in it today. The quartz is not being saved for crushing. The drive will be continued, the contractors not yet having completed their distance. The eastern drive on the stringers is in over 20ft., and payable dirt is coming to hand. ROCKY POINT. The crushing of the general dirt will not be finished till to-night, and retorting cannot therefore take place till to morrow. The picked stone was treated to-day. . GOLD RETURNS.
