The House of Commons re-assembled yesterday after the Whitsuntide holidays. Madrid, June 5.
A serious dynamite explosion occurred at Barcelona, where an attempt was made to commit a- similar outrage last month. The explosion was caused by a dynamite cartridge which had been placed in the street. One person was killed, and the buildings in the street were greatly in iured.
London, June 5.
The Australian cricketers commenced the eighth match of their tour today at Manchester, where they met an eleven representing Lancashire. An excellent wicket was pitched, and the ground was ia first-rate order. The Australians went in first and succeded in putting together 174 runs, towards which Bannerman contributed 36 (bowled)); McDonnell, 49 (lbw); Murdoch, 39 (bowled. The Home team then went to the wickets, and when the stumps were drawn for the day their score stood at 109, with fire wickets down J. Briggs being not out with 46 to his credit. Giffen. for the Australians, , bowled splendidly, and succeeded in doing the bat trick. During the day rain fell at intervals, and the play was occasionally interrupted ; the attendance of spectators was ?ery large.

The cricket match Australians T- Lancashire was resumed to-day at Manchester in fine weather, and before an enormous attendance of spectators. The local team, with fi*e wickets down for 109, continued their first innings, which after an excellent display of batting on the part of Barlow and Mr H. B. Steele, closed for a total of 195, or 21 ahead of the Australians. The fielding of the visitors was excellent, and alone prevented their opponents score being much larger than it was. The Australians went in for their second innings, and- a splendid display of bailing busued, with the result that
when time-was called for the day 202 run had been put together for the loss of only three wickets. The chief contributors were—Bannerman, b, 44; Murdoch, c, 64; Giffen, not out, 79.

Intelligence is to hand from Lahore, in the Funjaub, that a Bussian Jew who is suspected to be a spy has been arrested there in consequence of suspicious more* ments on his part. He has been conducted to Kurracheescinde, where it is! expected he will be released on the condition that he leaves the country. Constantinople, June 6. The latest news from the island of Crete reports that disputes between the Cretan Christians and the officials of the Porte hare been arranged, and the state of affairs is now quite pacific. In consequence of the settlement arrived at Phatiades Pasha, who recently resigned the Governorship of the Island, has now agreed to retain bis office.
