CALEDONIAN LOW LEVEL.
Excellent progress is being made with the eastern crosscut at the 640 ft level, and the rock drill continues to work well. The face is now in a total distance of 361 ft., and the country is now a favorable class of white sandstone. A leader which has been running with the drive for some dis* tanca is still showing on the right hand side, and'is a promising body of stone.
CAMBRIA. Tendors were received as follows for driving 50ft on the 230 ft level:—E. Harris, 133 (accepted); M. Whelan, 15s 6d; J. C. Thomas. 20s; J. Hoskins, 20s; and W. Graham, 22s 6d. The successful party commenced work this afternoon. This is all the work at present going on at the level, but as'soon as the face is in a few feet, the Darwin drive in the opposite direction will be commenced. KUEUNUI HILL. The intermediate drive above the tunnel level has broken through to the winze on the footvrall of No. 9 reef from the creek level, but no quartz has yet been broken. It is now proved beyond doubt that the No. 9 reef, so successfully worked above the creak level by Kelly and party, is entirely distinct from either Gilmour's leader cr the crosslode, and at the tunnel level is still in the hangingwall of both of them.. The manager can thus open up a large block on it should the qucrtz, on being broken, prove payable. ':..;.;; BEIGHT SMILE.
