Large Fire in Auckland.

Auckland, This day, A fire broke out at 11.30 last night in the Royal George Hotel, Newmarket, and destroyed, besides that hotel, the shop of Hamilton, bakor, and the Police Station. The hotel was open at the time- of the outbreak, but none of the inmates are able to account for the fire. Several boarders asleep up-stairs had to escapo,in their night-clothes, and a man named Corbett was seriously burnt in rescuing a girl named Agnes Brown, who was also injured. The hotel was leased to Jagger, who was insured for £800 in the Norwich Union, and Odium (the owner) had a further policy of £200 in the same office. The stock and furniture were insured by Jagger for £800 in the Northern. The premises of Hamilton, baker, were, with the police station, the property of G. Clayton, and were insured by him fot £600 in the South British.. Hamilton's fupnituj-o" and stock were uninsured. Constable Graheßi was also uninsured, and loses £160 worth of furniture. The stables and offices of Hammond and Byron,.pulled down to stop the spread of the flames, were insured on. behalf of Clayton for £100 in the National. The total insurance is £2500, and the damage ie £4000.
