GREYMOUTH.

This day. An Old Thamesite Burnt Out.

A cottage occupied by Sergeant-. Major O'Grady was burned down this morning at three o'clock. The house being old was burned very rapidly, and was wrapped in flames when the brigade arrived. The sounds of crashing glass awakened the Sergt., who had considerable difficulty in saving his wife and children. The furniture and other effects were entirely destroyed, the only things saved being a few articles of wearing apparel belonging to his daughter. The house was not insured. The origin is supposed to have been a defective chim« ney.
