BLENHEIM.
This day.
The Supreme Court sittings were opened by Mr Justice Bichmond to-day. His Honor congratulated the district on it's freedom from crime, there being only one accused in the calendar, and added that the sister district (Nelson) was even happier, as at present there were no criminal cases whatever there. William Stewart, for horse stealing, was found guilty, and sentence was postponed till a second indictment for house-breaking against him is tried. Neil Mcßride, who was sentenced a fortnight ago to six weeks for wilful damage to property, was released yesterday, and arrived in Blenheim last night. It was evidently a case of mistaken identity.
