OUR MINES.
NEW PEINCE IMPERIAL.
An improvement is noticeable in the country in the shaft; though still tight, there are more soft heads running through it, which make it shoot better. The workings are looking well all through, gold being seen in all the stopes, and a few pounds of picked stone coming to hand from the No. 1 reef stopes above No. 4 level. The No. 2 reef in the eastern drire at this level also looks well, showing gold when broken. At No. 3 level, the mineralised portion of No. 1 reef, which is being driven on in the hangingwall of toe main lode, has opened " out to the full width of the drive, I at does not at present show gold.'
