SALVATION.
(To the Editor of the * voning Star.) Sir, —I understand that on Saturday evening the Salvationists, through their mouthpiece, " Captain " Francis, commented on the death of a young man who had been in the habit of attending their meetings, and " Captain" Francis is reported to have said " that as the deceased did not avail himself of the medium of the ' penitent form,' he was in an undesirable locality," or words to that effect. Now, sir, putting aside the unchristian, uncharitable, and blasphemous nature of the assertion, is it right to revile the dead P There is a command in the Bible by one whom the Salvationists irreverently call " Captain " Jesus in their hymns (vide No. 3), which is, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." It is evident that " Captain " Francis usurps the power of the Almighty in hurling the thunders of Heaven against non-Salvationists living or dead; and, to my way of thinking, the man who does this, richly deserves a taste of that fiery pabulum he is so fond of prescribing as the diet of misguided non-w Salvationists.—l am, &c. Lex.
