London, April 4. It is rumored in Cairo that General Gordon has met with another reverse. [Received, April Bth, 2.20 p.m.] Caieo, April 7. Disputes have arisen between Nubar Pasha, President of the Council, and Sir Clifford Lloyd, Under-Secretary for Home Affairs in the Egyptian Ministry, and the questions at is3ue have been referred to the English Government for decision.
Rebellion Spreading near Berber. Intelligence is to hand that the tribes inhabiting the country between Shendy and Berber are now in open rebellion, ard the movement, it is feared, is spreading. Communication with Khartoum is closed, and it is further feared that Berber and Dongola are both invested by a large force of hostile Arabs.
Caibo, April 7.—Lateb. Nubar Pasha has resigned the Presi dency of the Council of Ministers. ,
The latest news from Souakim states a number of hostile tribes in that neighborhood are now treating for peace. Osman Digna. It is reported that Osman Digna has left the district, and gone to Kordofan, on the western border of the Soudan.

London, April 4. Several cyclones have occurred in America, doing enormous damage to property, and killing thirty people. Lord Eosebery has git en notice of his intention, after the Easter recess, to move a motion in the House of Lords on the Recidivistes question. Lieutenant Habkiro, U.N., is appointed Lieutenant of the gunboat Protector. The betting on the University Boat Race is 15 to 8 on Oxford. London, April 5.
Mr Redmond, M.P., has assured the Pall Mall Gazette that the chief inspiration of Irishmen in Australia is the establishment of Home Rule for Ireland. He spoke in terms of contempt of Australian society, and said the motive for all this stir in favor of the annexation of New Guinea was the desire to secure cheap Kanaka labour. Colonial loyalty was limited to shouting for the Queen.
The Divorce Court has sustained the legality of the marriage of Earl Euston, heir of the Duke of Grafton, with Kate Cooke, a courtesan, which was disputed on the ground of her having been previously married. The Court held that Kate Cooke's previous marriage was illegal, owing to the fact that the man she married had already a living wife. Earl Euston is well known in Australia, where he lived for six years as a Government officer, under the name of Fitzroy.
The Australian Meat Company have recovered from the Underwriters Insurances on the Masala's cargo of frozen meat.
Colonel Nugent, in a lecture, has urged the construction of fortified stations at Albany, Australia, and New Guinea. He also urged the necessity for unity of action between Australia and England in providing the defences necessary for the Empire. The Agents-General were present.
The marriage of Prince Lonis of Battenburg is postponed till May. The Oriental. Bank's year's profit is re^ duced to £2,000 (?). After assigning £76,000 for debts and depreciation the directors propose to reduce the nominal value of the shares by one half, so as to strengthen the reserve fund. A scheme is projected with the Duke of Manchester as chairman, for the purchase of lands in Carpentaria. ■
