The University Boat Race. The Inter University boat race took place to-day, and was won by the Cambridge crew.

Arrived, at Plymouth : Steamship Garronne, from Melbourne, and steamship Doric, from Lyttelton. The cargoes of both vessels are believed to be in good condition. IJoNG Kong, April 7. French Advancing.

Intelligence has reached here from Tonquin that the French' expedition lo Hoang Ho has commenced to advance. It is expected that serious resistance will be offered by the Chinese to the expedition.
