The hearing of the oase of Harry Goodward, charged with rape on Helen Payne, lasted all day, and is unfinished. The jury were sent to the Imperial Hotel in charge of the police. The evidence has concluded. The Judge sums up to-morrow. Great interest is taking in the case by the public, owing to the peculiar circumstances surrounding it. , Thisday.?«| The Key. Mr Jervois, His Excellency the Governor's son, preaches at St. Paul's to-morrow. An English syndicate has purchased 40,000 acres at Taupo for £32,000. The negotiations were conducted by cablegram, which alone cost £750.
