Thames Harbor Board.

At the monthly meeting of the Harbor Board, convened for four o'clock this afternoon, the following report was pre sented by the Harbormaster :—" Work during the month baa b.sn confined to' carrying on the wharf road contract. The contrac'ors are making very fair progress, and I thiuk the work will be pretty well completed in the specified time. I have had to slightly alt r the mcie of working from the mode laid down io the specifications, through circumstances I could not forsee. at the time they were drawn up, and there will probably be from ten to fifteen feet more in length to fill than specified, so as to put a proper end upon the road. The necessity for the increase in length arises from the fact J of the wharf having settled down Just out- i side the silt wall, and a solid road there, in place of piecing the piles, will make the best job. The extra cost will cot be great, probably not above £10, but I have not measured the extra filling, and consequently cannot estimate it exactly. To finish the road properly I shall have to procure either stone or wood to form the curbing. The Borough Council have in their yard a considerable quantity of stone, which would answer the purpose, as it was taken up from the slopes that at one tirre were laid from the street ends on to the hard, and I would suggest that if possible it be bought and placed at our disposal for the. purpose mentioned. During last fresh in the Shortland creek a considerable amount of debris came down, and lodged about the banks, though not impeding navigation, but every change of wind fetches some of it back into the channel, and consequently it has had to be re moved, which I have had done. —T. C. Bayldon/'
