No information has yet been received of the native meeting at Parihaka, but it is understood the natives had a great feast, served up principally in European fashion.
D. C. Maunsell, on a charge of embezzling Government monies, was further remanded until Friday.
It is intended to reduce the number of armed constables, so that at the beginning of the year (Ist April) the total number will be only 500. The reduction has been carried on for some time, but at the first of the present month notice was given to between 60 and 70 men that their services would be dispensed with on the 13th inst.
