Thames Hospital.
The usual meetirig was held yesterday. Present—Mr J. McGowan (presiding), Dr. Kilgour, tbe Revs. Barley and Bull, and Messrs Rensbaw, Lawlor, Wale, Wildman, Hall, and Marshall.—The House Committee report d that the cr.se book was kept in a satisfactory manner; recommended that Dr. Callan be appointed to the honorary medical staff; that aocjuots amounting to £226 11s 3d* be passed for payment; and that the Committee saw no reason to alter its j decision re a charge made by Mrs ,| O'Brien against the Dispenser, for using violent language, which was that the complaint was groundless.—Applications •were received from two, wardsmen for increase of wages from 30s to 35s per week, but it was resolved on the motion of Mr Renshaw, seconded by Dr Kilgour ;—" That in the present state of the finances the committco cannot see its way to granting the inorease." — The financial statement showed: "Re« oeipts—To balance £1, subscriptions £17 Us, garden £1 0s 66, Bank of New Zea- | land £831125, total £850 17s 6d. ExI penditure—By • Bank of New Zealand , £640 Os Bd, salaries £86,, maintenance .£56 13s 9d, drugs and appliances,£29 19s Id,' printing, advertisements, stationery, , £9ss, funerals £2 2s, clothing £3 14a 6d, furniture £3 15s 7d, medical comfort* $5 13s 9d, miscellaneous expenses Itis Bd, Fever Hospital salaries #10, Fever Hospital maintenance £-2 14s Bd, total £850 l?s 6d. Assets: Amount due from Government for December quarter, £643 Qs Bd. Liabilities: Bank of New #eaianti £831125, salaries £78 12a, months accounts £140 4s 3d., total" £1050 8s 3d," and wag adapted «The surgeon reported R9 to tbe number of patients in the Hos> pital j' and as to the absolute necessity for increased' accommodation, which &e<3 entailed the use of the dining room being made for beds, ar 1 one ease of a boy being sent to the fema?^ ward ; the dilapidated state o£ ihe verandah.was adverted to, and referred to the House Committee j'a coat of paint was rtcommended to be applied to the building. laid on the table, and attention directed to the fact that the annual meeting would be held in April. Some discussion ensued as to the method to be adopted in electing the Committee, and it was resolved that the election should be by ballot, and that ballot papers be printed for the purpose of election—if practicable—after the nominations are received, so that the elections should be held the same night, if not, that the nominations be received at the annual, meeting, and an adjournment take place to a future date to take the ballot.—The Rev. H. Bull, and Messrs Carpenter, Stoae, and Yeale were elected members of the House Committee for the month.— The meeting then closed.
