An English paper writes:—"At the annual races of the Etoa College, Mr Gordon Wilson, of Haghenden, won three events, which arc now for the first time in the record of the college sports won in one year by the same competitor. The prizes are three handsome silrer cups and a large silver challenge cup for the year. The races won were the 100 yards race, - the hurdle race, and the quarter mile. It is no small achievement for a young Australian to perform this feat, in competition with a thousand of the flower of English youth and vigour." A gentleman had five daughters, the first of whom married a man by. the name of Poor, the second a Mr Little, the third a Mr Short, the fourth a Mr Brown, the fifth aMr Hogg. At the wedding of thft latter her sisters with their husbands were there, and the old gentleman said to his guests :—" I have taken pains to educate my daughters that they might act well their part in life and do honor to my family. I find that all my pains, care, and expectations have turned out nothing but a Poor, Little, Short, Brown, Hogg \"
