London, January 24. The French authorities have promised to give full warning to the natives of neutral nations residing in China before any attack is made upon the Chinese. It is hoped that the suspension of payment of Messrs Young and Lark, mer» chants of London and Sydney, will be only of a temporary character. It is probable that the creditors will grant the firm time to meet its liabilities, as the colonial assets cover the debts.
