The Parr Scandal.
A sultry discussion took place at the Board of Education to-day, in reference to the mistake re Parr's scholarship. Be i' Eice, Secretary, submitted a letter showing that the mistake was his, in classing two boys as No. 6, one of them thereby being omitted. He explained that he ha . further committed an error in sending .
certificate for two years instead cf three years, and showed that Parr'^ letter and telegram, which was published in the Herald, were written three days after the Board had acknowledged and rectified its error; that the telegram printed in the Herald on the 26th, was only sent to the Board on the 29 th. This asserted that the Herald's article was inspired, and also asserted that the whole outcry was prompted by the master, Mr O'Donoghue. A strong discussion followed, and an enquiry was demanded. Mr Buckland said if those articles were inspired by teachers, he would not sit at the Board again. Other statements, imputing motives to Parr and Mr O'Donoghue were made, and the Board accepted the secretary's explanation.
