AUCKLAND.
This day. A young man named Ward, while attempting to jump from the North Shore ferry steamer to the whar fell on c stringers of the wharf, and was picked up insensible. W. B. Langbridge, advertising agent, was found dead in bed at the Olanricarde Hotel. He took two sleeping draughts last night. The ship Opawa has arrived from London, after a passage of 82 days. The Opawa and Turakina go South to load frozen meat—one load at Lyttelton, and.the other at papier;, both are fitted with Haslam refrigerators. The Opawa brings 22 pure-bred sheep for Canterbury; three died on the passage. George- Iren has been arrested for burglary at the Wharf Hotel, having stolen a quantity of jewellery, including gold and silver watches.
