WELLINGTON.
Heavy Gale.
This day.
A furious N.W. gale set in last night, and it is still blowing with hurricane force, suspending all shipping business. No serious damage is reported. The yacht Thetis and the cutter Days-bay were driven ashore, and the former is bumping rather heavily against some trestle work. Numerous chimney pots, fences, and sheets of galvanised iron have been lowered, also two or three sheds ; and the roof of the Naval Brigade boat shed was taken off. One verandah was completely wrecked ; fortunately no one was passing at the time. There are nojaigns of abatement, and the glass is low.
