HELENSVILLE.
Yesterday. On New Year's Eve a party of young men paraded Helensville with an improvised band of music, smashed the doors of the Kaipara tfofcel, and broke windows at the residences of Captain Bawson, Messrs Medge, Griffiths, and Smethurst, doing considerable damage. Mr Daniel Stewart saved his windows by giving thegang money. Bobert McLeod protected his homestead with a gun loaded with a charge of salt. Householders were in a state of terror throughout the night. Constable Naughton traced the gang, but was powerless.to act alone. He is, how* ever, able to identify a lot. Two of the party have since confessed to the damage.
