WELLINGTON.
This day. The s.s. Australian with the supplementary colonial mails arrived at San Francisco on the 9th inst.
The Hon. W. Eolleston leaves for Christchurch to morrow, for the purpose of being present at the opening of the Industrial Exhibition there ; he returns on Tuesday next. The Hon. T. Dick will be the only Minister remaining in Wellington.
In a quarrel at Carterton last night a cook, named Anderson, stabbed a woman, named Mary White, in the neck. Anderson was arrested. The woman was taken to the hospital, and her wound is not serious.
