A telegram was read at the Convention announcing that France lays claim to the following Islands, or Groups in the Pacific:—New Caledonia, Loyalties, Pines, Marquesas (eleren islands), Societies, Tahiti, Morea, Lower Archipelago (eighty islands), Australs, Tubuai, Coito, and Rapa. France is willing that the Leeward Islands, near Tahiti, should be independent.

Sailed, this morning : The Union Company's steamer Waitara, for the Bluff. Albany, Yesterday.

The P. and O. steamer Shannon, with the inward mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, Not. 2, arrived at King George's Sound this afternoen.
