Some eight passengers, chiefly mechanics, have returned from the barque Leo* pold from South Africa, giving a gloomy account of the state of matters there as far as the -industrial classes are concerned.
The rewards for the discovery of the perpetrators of the Commercial Bank robbery has been apportioned as follows : —Sub«Jnspector Brown, £100; Detective Mackey; £60; Detectives Nixon and Ward, £50 each; Detectives Considine and Porter, £30 each; three constables, £10-each ; A. A. Corbett, £200 ; Maud Corbett, £150; Emily Gorbett, £50; Harry Thorne, £225; and Edmond Davis, £25. About 100 cases have been instituted against country publicans, under the Trade Marks Statute, by Customs officers. The Salvation Army Barracks at WilHamstown have been placed in charge of Captain Jeannie W. White, a young woman from New Zealand. Adelaide, Not; 13. An experienced reporter estimates the yield of wheat to be from 8 to 10 bushels of good plump grain. A Chinaman named Mali Pooh has been hanged for the murder of a country* man. Bbisbane, Ndv.i 131 The captain, second mate, and two of the crew of the labor schooner Alfred Villery, have been arrested for the murder, at sea, of a Kanaka on board.
